Dubai Heritage Village
The Dubai Heritage and Diving Village also known as the Hatta Village has been built near an ancient settlement. The village tries to recreate the traditional hill village positioned in an oasis. There are mud houses and barasti (palm leaves) that are waiting to be explored in this village. At the center of the village resides a fort and two towers look over from top at the village below. A falaj (or oasis) is also created in this village together with greened areas for seating. The Dubai Heritage Village goes back in time to 400 years ago, during the 16th century and is one of the oldest villages in Dubai. The towers were constructed in the 1880s and were used to protect the city from outside invasion.
Signs here at the Dubai Heritage Village go in both English and Arabic. The signs would provide directions to visitors across the different sections of the village. There exists a two hundred year old mosque at the site as well.
The Dubai Heritage Village showcases the ancient architecture of the emirates and also the early pearl diving traditions of the area. The village is in close proximity to the House of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum.
There is also the Palm Tree products house, which showcases palm tree products. The handicrafts house displays the diverse handicrafts that were present in ancient Dubai. While in the area of course be sure to try a luxury hotel in Dubai. Dubai is renowned for its hotels and a Dubai hotel would offer some of the best hotel services without doubt.
